About Your Photography Instructor
Pamela Goodyer is a renowned photographer, the owner of an online Photography Museum, Photography Magazine Extra, and the recipient of multiple international awards for her work. She has spent years photographing people, places, and events around the world — and now teaches here in Monmouth County, New Jersey.
The classes aren’t about fancy words or marketing fluff. They’re about teaching you what actually works — how to use your camera with confidence, understand your camera, and create the kind of photos you want to take.
We make photography education straightforward and personal. Our students come from all over the world (on our photo tours) for one reason: they want to leave knowing how to think like an award-winning photographer, not just copy settings.

TUESDAY NIGHT N.J. PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS
LEARN HOW TO TAKE PICTURES – BEGINNER
If you want to learn how to take pictures. You are in the correct location. Beginner NJ Photography Class – Learn photography in Marlboro, Monmouth County, New Jersey—evening classes on Tuesday Nights for four consecutive weeks.
This class will be from 6:30 to 8:30
Once you master the principles, you will know how to shoot anything. You will learn everything you need to know to create any images you see on this website. We sometimes offer a Wednesday Night Class.
WILL WE COVER EXPOSING OUR PICTURES PROPERLY IN THE CLASS?
We will teach you about White Balance, ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speeds. We will review when, why, and how to shoot in aperture and shutter priority modes. We will cover shooting in manual mode along with manual exposure compensation.
HOW CAN I GET OUT OF CAMERA AUTO MODE?
If you’re new to digital photography, we’ll teach you everything you need to know to get out of auto mode. If you are a little more advanced, we will review what you already have a grasp of (one-on-one) and build on that foundation.
WHAT ARE THE BEST CAMERAS FOR BEGINNERS?
When we learn about cameras in class. We’ll cover all the different types of cameras. And what are the best cameras for beginners? We will discuss which cameras are best for travel photography and sports photography, and go into detail about your budget, helping you choose the right camera and lenses if you haven’t already purchased them. It will be great advice on picking camera lenses and cameras for the future, too.
WHAT ARE THE BEST LENSES?
We’ll also review the various types of lenses and the basics of selecting the right lens for each kind of photography, such as which lens to use for wildlife photography, macro photography and more.
WHAT METERING MODES SHOULD I USE?
We will teach you the difference between Matrix, Spot, and Evaluative metering, discuss when to use them to your advantage, and practice using them in the field.
WILL WE LEARN ABOUT FOCUS MODES?
AF-S, AF-C, AF-A, MF. You will learn what they are, when to use them, and why to use them to create sharp, crisp images.
WILL PAMELA TEACH US HOW TO CREATE DYNAMIC IMAGES as SHE DOES?
YES!! We will learn about Color, Composition, Angles, Texture, Backgrounds, Lines, Subject Matter, and what makes a dynamic image. Your instructor, an international award-winning photographer, will teach you everything she knows in this area.
CAMERA BASICS FOR BEGINNERS
After we learn what each setting does, we will review all the cameras’ settings and help you set your camera to your desired settings. Everyone has different preferences, but not everyone knows how to adjust settings and what the camera is capable of. We cover image rotation upon review, releasing the shutter without a card, AF assist beam, noise reduction level, and more.
NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY CAMERA SETTINGS
We will learn everything you need to know about how to do night photography.
LONG EXPOSURE CAMERA SETTINGS
We will discuss the use of tripods, how to purchase one, and how to set up your camera for long exposures, which can produce dramatic or creative photography effects.
MILKY WATERFALL PHOTOGRAPHY TECHNIQUES
You’d be surprised how easy it is to do waterfall photography. You just need the right equipment and the right know-how.
MILKY WAY PHOTOGRAPHY
We will also learn how to create dramatic Milky Way images in the classroom courses.
PAINTING WITH LIGHT
We’ll cover star trails and painting with light (bring your flashlight). We will do this trick photography in the last week of our four-week class. Sometimes we end up doing trick photography until after midnight, it’s that much fun. Pamela Goodyer often extends the class into the early morning hours if we are having too much fun, as she has difficulty stopping at a decent hour and ending the excitement.
HOW TO MAKE MONEY IN PHOTOGRAPHY.
For those interested, we will discuss one-on-one the opportunities to make money by selling your images online or starting your own business, while others practice in our outdoor garden photography location. We will cover a wide range of photography services, including:

Liberty State Park, New Jersey — Beginner Photography Lesson
CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED – To provide better one-on-one instruction, we’re limiting this class to a total of eight participants.
Do you want to learn how to get out of auto-mode and learn the basic foundation? We will cover ISO, white balance, shutter speed, aperture, and more. Additionally, we will have hands-on experience to practice everything you’ve learned, ensuring you can go home remembering it all. And we will be sure you get some great shots for your new portfolio.

Do you want to learn how to photograph aliens, waterfalls, or the N.Y.C. skyline at night? This class will focus on long exposure & using a tripod. This is not just learning about how to use your camera; this is about Learning how to get dynamic award winning shots.
